The Alcorn Bedner Townsend trio improvise, explore, reinterpret and reharmonize familiar melodies synergizing hip grooves, hard swings, beautiful harmonies and thoughtful solos.

Tim Bedner, Mark Alcorn and Marilee Townsend formed their trio in 2007 to express fresh and new musical ideas through jazz standards and original material. Based in Ottawa, the trio has performed extensively in the city of Ottawa’s clubs and restaurants. In addition, the trio provides back up support for jazz, R&B vocalists and Capital Vox, Ottawa’s jazz choir.
Tim, Mark and Marilee bring a wide range of performance experience and a wealth of musical background to the trio.

Guitarist Tim Bedner reharmonizes familiar melodies and spans multiple musical genres while creating a hip contemporary sound. Tim’s stellar solo work highlights his exploration of melodic and harmonic development.

Mark Alcorn provides the unique sound of the baritone guitar as a complement to Tim’s chordal harmony, and also as bass line support. Mark often explores the extended upper range of the baritone guitar in his solo work, which adds a new dimension of sound and texture to the trio.

Drummer Marilee Townsend lays down the time and infuses the group with rhythmic energy. She creates layers of sound with her cymbals, while providing complex rhythmic patterns, straight ahead swing, and engaging grooves.
